Highly varied information, including sequence numbers, text and graphics, can be saved to the controller and transmitted to ink jet coders during ongoing production. This thereby enables users to print their unique, non-interchangeable competition codes onto product packaging during continuous production.
Competition codes are printed at a highly diverse range of speeds without coming into contact with the product itself.
A short while ago, Huhtamaki addressed the requirements of a well-known food manufacturer, which involved providing each tamper-evident product seal (PETP/PE) with a competition code. It is for this reason that Domino A400 CP ink jet print heads have been integrated into the production line, in order to apply the unique competition codes to the high-quality polyester film at a speed of 250 m/min. This method also ensures that the code is printed between layers. As such, there is no risk of the product coming into direct contact with the printing ink.

Thanks to its global presence and initiatives, the Bavarian specialist for flexible packaging is able to offer innovative solutions and production to an advanced technological standard. Domino also adopts this approach. Joachim Friebe, Operations Director for Flexible Packaging in Ronsberg, explains how the partnership with Domino evolved: “We opted for Domino because our company had experienced success working with them on previous occasions, having benefitted from their proficient, extremely customer-focussed approach.”
Combined with the digital, inline competition process from Domino, the flexible packaging solution from Huhtamaki contributes towards increasing efficiency and reliably responding to customer requirements in no time at all.
