Fresh food company PicaDeli supplies salad bars to grocery stores. Customers are able to pick and mix their own salads, choosing from a variety of different combinations. During production, the system is able to interpret the tray’s contents based on its weight. After it has been identified, the ingredient information must be printed onto a label and applied to the correct tray.
Because the content of the salads can vary, PicaDeli needed a reliable solution to label each salad tray with information about the individual contents. The food company chose the robust and user-friendly Domino M-Series Tamp and Front units to fulfil their labeling requirements. The M-Series printers fitted easily in to the narrow production area.
After the trays have been labeled they are packed into boxes of three, which are in turn marked with content data and a barcode by Domino’s Drop On Demand. The boxes are stacked onto a pallet and labeled by the M-Series Pallet labeler equipment before being sent onto the stores.
