‘Textures by Domino’, a vibrant range of digitally textured labels, will take centre stage on the Domino stand at Label & Print 2017 (K13, NEC Birmingham, 1st – 2nd March). Showcasing a set of eye-catching designs, colours and samples, Domino Digital printing solutions will show stand visitors the wide variety of effects that can be created with ink jet, with lower costs than by using textured papers.

Stephen Hancock, UK Sales Manager for Digital Colour at Domino’s Digital printing Solutions division, explains: “At Domino, we’re always pushing ourselves to discover new ways in which digital print can add value. This unique ink jet capability is achieved by using the high opacity white ink on Domino’s N610i digital colour label press, which eliminates the need to invest in expensive textured substrates. It is an innovative solution that not only allows the creation of tactile and sensational designs, but also helps reduce costs.” The innovative ink jet capabilities of the N610i digital press has attracted numerous UK label printers over the past few years. Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS) Bristol, an award-winning supplier of self-adhesive labels to a wide range of market sectors, was the first company in the UK to invest in a 7 colour N610i, not just for its vibrant and extensive colour gamut, but also due to its high productivity and print quality.

Derbyshire-based Charapak, one of the UK’s market leaders in the design and manufacture of specialist corrugated packaging, recently diversified into the labelling sector with their investment in a Domino N610i down to the productivity, quality and durability of the labels it produces.  Meanwhile, Lancashire-based Reel Appeal, Domino’s first UK customer to purchase a 4 colour N600i, doubled its company’s turnover and increased its digital print volume from just 2-3% to 98% over the 18-month period following its installation. The company has continued to experience growth and has recently invested in a second digital label press, a 5-colour N610i, to cope with an increased demand for more creative label printing projects.

The Label & Print Show also provides an opportunity to promote the labelling applications that can be achieved with the Domino K600i monochrome printer. “Domino has developed an advanced digital cold foiling solution using the K600i, which enables conventional metallic foils to be digitally applied to label substrates, including features such as variable text, security marks and graphics,” says Stephen. “It is yet another innovation that Domino has specifically developed for the label sector.”He concludes: “The Label & Print Show, which is co-located with Packaging Innovations and Empack, provides Domino with the perfect opportunity to communicate and share our customer successes with other label and packaging print professionals looking to adopt digital ink jet technology.”
