Unlike CO2 lasers, Fiber lasers are more equipped for scribing metallic and harder surfaces than the flexible films that the CO2 lasers specialize in.
Fiber laser beams are more readily absorbed by metal instead of reflected. Plus, just like CO2, there aren't any inks or other consumables and you are still capable of creating small, yet legible characters, MRCs and more - by etching the surface. Plus, lasers are able to do so in challenging factory environments.
That said, what you do lose compared to industrial inkjets is that lasers must be precisely placed next to the substrate.
